Aikido is a Japanese martial art that was developed at the beginning of the 20th century by O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba. It unites ancient budo principles as it derives from a variety of traditional martial arts. Aikido focuses on self-defense rather than agression by applying harmonic yet effective techniques. The fundamental principles are respect and presence.

Aikido-Dojo Frankfurt was founded in 1990 and is not bound by a fixed style. Instead it is a dojo within the Aikido Europe network which stands for the continuous development of a contact-oriented Aikido. The clear and well-reflected approach is quite successful: over 15 members of our dojo have a grading between 1st and 5th Dan.
Our examination sheet is available for download as a PDF file.
The best way to find out more about Aikido is to join our free tryout lessons. You are very welcome any time, as Aikido is not taught in the way of curriculum classes. For further information go to our Training page.
